Meet Tony Vanelle - Assistant Director of Kids Korner

Tony has a passion for working with our members and children. He has a kind heart and is ready to help anyone and everyone whenever he can. Whether it is setting up for a group fitness class, making sure members have ice water and clean towels for their use or just saying “good morning”. If you have ever been to the Medallion Fitness Center you will know his face. His attitude toward everyone and everything in life has made him a very valuable employee and a great person.

Tony is no stranger to hard work. He spent 6 years in the US Marine Corp before working for the Westerville City Schools for 31 years as Transportation Foreman. After retiring, he then started working for the Boy Scouts of American a passion he himself has enjoyed since childhood. He has achieved many awards in the Scout program as well as helped many young boys achieve their Eagle Scout award. For the past 6 years we have had the honor of having Tony work for us here at Medallion.

More recently he has served as Chaplin, Commodore and supply sergeant at the Buckeye Boat Club.

FUN FACTS:

Tony has been married for 49 years.
Has lived in Westerville for 40 years
Has one daughter and three wonderful grandsons (two of which have earned their Eagle Scout award).

Hallie is 4 and has been going to Kid’s Korner regularly for the past few years. Although she always enjoys the staff at Medallion, she has taken a special liking to “Mr. Tony”, as we call him. He has just been grate with her. Instead of just sitting her in front of the TV, he always finds something fun for them to play, whether it is the dinosaur toys, the play kitchen, or bouncing balls in the empty racquetball courts. Most days, he also has a cookie or two for here as long as I give my permission. She is really enjoying her time up there and hates to leave when I come to pick her up! It makes it a lot easier to come up to the club to work out or have dinner when I know that she is having such a good time. I wanted to pass along what a great job Tony is doing!

My kids love going to Kid’s Korner - in fact, they are disappointed when we are not headed to the club. They especially like the mornings with Mr. Tony!
